A lot of insights into maritime and offshore clients were gathered by our Managing Partner Holger Ritter during his business trip from Kiel via Hamburg and Bremen to Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Antwerp, Belgium.
After participating in the board meeting of the Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland e. V. and the following meet-and-greet with MCN members at SAACKE GmbH in Bremen, Holger continued to Rotterdam and Antwerp to visit clients and five of the leading global offshore companies.
It was amazing to discuss with them innovations for vessel communications and IT technology, and how they can contribute to a greener and more sustainable world.
Innovations including augmented reality, digital twins, and artificial intelligence require the orchestration and efficient management of the available satellite and cellular communication options.
There is a clear trend towards the cloud-connected vessel, exchanging terabytes of data and information in real-time between ship and shore – facilitated by LEO networks like Starlink, but also with the smart integration of Wi-Fi, LTE, and 5G networks.
