A site camera used to mean one picture per hour via FTP. Today it is one element of a small network: IP cameras, a Peplink router with several cellular connections, a Starlink terminal where coverage is poor, and power from mains, solar or battery. On top run the live view, time-lapse, security alarms and remote access to site IT such as container Wi-Fi, access control or measurement equipment.
For construction companies this means fewer trips to site, documented progress for clients and change orders, and theft protection outside working hours. Packages for construction sites
Three levels we adapt to the size and duration of the site. Prices on request.
Time-lapse and documentation
One or more high-resolution cameras on the crane or a mast, images at fixed intervals, a time-lapse film at project end. Portal access for site management and client.
Security outside working hours
Cameras with motion detection and defined zones, alarms via app or to a security service, optional floodlight and speaker. Recording only on events.
Remote inspection
Pan-tilt-zoom cameras for acceptance, defect clarification and evidence towards subcontractors, without anyone travelling.
Connectivity: 4G/5G and Starlink
Peplink routers with SIM cards from several carriers, Starlink as a second path where coverage is weak. Failover via SpeedFusion so live view and alarms get through.
Power: mains, solar or battery
Connection to the site distribution board, an autonomous solar unit with buffer battery for sites without power, or a battery kit for short deployments. Sized for the duration of your project.
Site Wi-Fi and container IT
Wi-Fi in the site office and across the site, VPN to the company network, separate networks for subcontractors. Details under Network & Wi-Fi.

Address, duration, purpose of the monitoring, power situation. We check cellular coverage and propose camera positions.
Clarify data protection
We support you with guidance on the notice sign, information sheet and retention concept; the legal review stays with your data protection officer. Camera angles are chosen so public paths and neighbouring properties are excluded or masked.
Installation and commissioning
Our technicians mount cameras, router and power supply, configure alarm zones and hand over the access credentials to your site management.
Operation and removal
Monitoring for the whole construction period, adjustments as the build progresses, removal at the end with hand-over of the time-lapse and recordings.
Remote access for site management, without a security gap
Construction sites are temporary; the data on them is not. That is why our cameras and site IT are never exposed directly to the internet. Access runs through an encrypted tunnel to the company network or via an access platform with multi-factor authentication. Client, planners and subcontractors only get the views released to them.
Routers and cameras are managed centrally. A new site gets the same configuration as the last one, firmware stays current, and on removal the device is wiped cleanly. How we secure access is described under Secure Remote Access.
Frequently asked questions about construction site monitoring
What do we need to consider for data protection in Germany?
Site cameras process personal data as soon as workers, passers-by or neighbours are recognisable. For companies the legal basis is usually Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest such as theft prevention and construction documentation); section 4 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) governs video surveillance of publicly accessible areas, but according to the Federal Administrative Court it is not decisive for private bodies. In practice this means: notice signs before the monitored area with the mandatory information under Art. 13 GDPR, a detailed information sheet, camera angles that exclude public paths and neighbouring properties, a retention concept with short periods (the German Data Protection Conference names 72 hours as the rule for security footage in its guidance), an entry in the record of processing activities and, where a works council exists, its involvement under section 87 (1) no. 6 of the Works Constitution Act. Time-lapse recordings are configured so people are not identifiable as far as possible. We support the technical implementation; the legal review is done by your data protection officer (as of 22 Sept 2026).
Does monitoring work without a power connection?
Yes. For sites without power we use solar units with a buffer battery that keep camera and router running through overcast days. A battery kit is enough for short deployments. Sizing depends on the number of cameras, capture interval and season; we calculate it in the quote.
What if there is no cellular coverage on site?
Then we use Starlink as the main link and cellular as a supplement. The terminal needs a clear view of the sky and is mounted on the container or a mast. Starlink Business offers plans with fixed data blocks for sites within Germany (Local Priority, as of 22 Sept 2026); we choose the block based on camera count and frame rate. We source Starlink hardware and plans through our partner Tototheo and integrate them into your network; DRYNET is not a Starlink reseller.
How much data does a site camera use?
That depends on resolution, frame rate and usage. Time-lapse at fixed intervals needs little; a continuous high-resolution live stream needs much more. We store high-resolution recordings locally and retrieve them only when needed.
Can site management control alarms themselves?
Yes. Alarm zones, schedules and recipients are managed in an app. Typical: motion alarms only between end of shift and start of work and at weekends, with push notifications to site management or forwarding to a security service.
Do we get a time-lapse film at the end?
Yes. The interval images become a film covering the whole construction period, usable for clients, documentation or marketing. We also hand over the raw data where the retention concept allows.
Can we standardise the equipment across several sites?
That is the normal case for construction companies with many projects. We define a standard package and roll it out per site, with configuration and access rights from a template. More under Rollout & Standardisation.
How quickly can you equip a site?
Standard packages are installed at short notice, depending on availability, distance and schedule. Larger setups with a solar unit or several cameras need a few days of lead time.
