Why Starlink alone is often not enough
Starlink typically delivers enough bandwidth for payment, video and cloud applications. But the link needs a clear view of the sky and can drop briefly in rain, snow, shading or congestion. In a livestream or a VPN session every interruption shows.
That is why we combine Starlink with 4G/5G through a Peplink router on request. How much does it cost to rent Starlink?
It depends on kit, duration, data plan and options such as an engineer or 5G failover. Prices are therefore on request, net plus VAT, with reductions for longer periods. You receive a quote listing every item.
What is the minimum rental period?
We rent for short deployments of a few days as well as for several months; weekends and long-term rentals have their own terms. The exact minimum is stated in the quote.
Is the data volume unlimited?
That depends on the plan. Standard plans offer high volume without a fixed cap but are deprioritised under congestion. Priority plans work with data blocks and are prioritised, the right choice for livestreams and fixed IP addresses. We choose the plan together with you.
How fast is Starlink?
Typically enough for video, cloud applications and payment systems. Actual figures depend on location, sky view and network load. For dependable upload we add 5G.
How long does setup take?
A few minutes: place the antenna, connect the cables, switch on. Our engineer can handle setup, alignment and briefing on site.
Does Starlink work on a vessel or in motion?
Yes, with the right plan. Standard plans are intended for land, inland waters and coastal waters; use on the open sea requires a maritime plan (Global Priority) and a suitable antenna. We select both according to the operating area. For permanent on-board installations we also recommend a Peplink Dome.
How much is the deposit?
Whether a deposit or another form of security is needed is settled in the quote. For companies and public authorities, framework agreements are also possible.
What happens in case of defect, theft or damage?
In case of a technical defect we provide a replacement. How loss, theft and damage during the rental period are handled, and whether an insurance option is available, is set out in the rental agreement; you receive the details with the quote.
Shipping or collection in Kiel? Will an engineer come to us?
Both. Shipping within Germany, collection in Kiel, or delivery with setup by our engineer. Radius, response time and costs are in the quote.
What are the rules for camera surveillance on a construction site?
Video surveillance requires a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; for publicly accessible areas Section 4 BDSG (German Federal Data Protection Act) applies in addition. Signs stating controller, purpose, contact and retention period must be in place before people enter the area, and recordings kept short, with the supervisory authorities citing 72 hours as a guideline. Public space and neighbouring properties must not be captured. We provide connection and fixed IP; the assessment lies with the camera operator.
